White Wall Cinema Presents – THE EYES OF TAMMY FAYE

March 13 @ 7:30 pm 10:00 pm

White Wall Cinema presents

The Eyes of Tammy Faye

Based on the RuPaul narrated documentary of the same name, Jessica Chastain (The Tree Of Life, Zero Dark Thirty, Interstellar) earns her third Oscar nomination and likely her first win (for Best Actress) for this brilliantly eccentric portrayal of 1970/80s U.S. televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker from ‘Big Sick’ director Michael Showalter. An unlikely gay icon, Faye was famous for her unusual insistence on acceptance for the LGBTQ+ community and her often outlandish gaudy sense of personal style. Aided by an equally wild performance from Andrew Garfield, who plays the eventually disgraced TV preacher Jim Bakker, the couples initial wide eyed faith in a gospel that approves of prosperity, gives way to a spiral of moral transgressions and financial impropriety in this dramatic bespangled rise and fall biopic that sees Chastain unleash her criminally untapped talent. The extraordinary eye make-up and lashes may be Tammy Faye’s trademark but here, all eyes are on the brilliant Chastain, in what may soon become her signature (maybe even Oscar winning) role.
