SUMMARY:White Wall Cinema: TO CATCH A THIEF
DESCRIPTION:ALFRED HITCHCOCK’S 4K REMASTER\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nYou can buy tickets for this screening only or take advantage of our discount ticket for both nights of the Vista Vision weekend to see One Eyed Jacks also.\n\n\n\nThis past year has seen the return of one of cinema’s most exciting formats\, with The Brutalist\, One Battle After Another\, the upcoming Emma Stone / Yorgos Lanthimos collaboration Bugonia\, the new Tom Cruise / Alejandro G. Iñárritu project\, the latest Margot Robbie / Jacob Elordi / Emerald Fennell film\, and new works from both M. Night Shyamalan and Greta Gerwig — all utilising the classic Paramount VistaVision process.\n\n\n\n\nBut what is it that is proving so irresistible to modern filmmakers\, it has prompted a widespread revival of a format that lay dormant for over sixty years? The answer lies in the magic of the select group of films produced during VistaVision’s original heyday. Over this very special VistaVision Weekend\, we present two of the most significant titles from that extraordinary list. \n\n\n\nThe very first Hitchcock film to employ Vista Vision (he would go on to make four more)\, To Catch a Thief stands as easily the director’s most glamorous work and comfortably sits among the upper echelons of his remarkable filmography. Pairing Cary Grant with Grace Kelly — fresh from her Best Actress Oscar win — Hitchcock transports us to the glittering French Riviera for a sun-soaked romance between Kelly’s daring socialite Frances Stevens and Grant’s retired cat burglar John Robie. When a new jewel thief threatens Robie’s now reformed reputation\, he must uncover the imposter’s identity to prove his innocence. \n\n\n\nThis wonderfully enjoyable romp sees its two radiant stars rivalled only by the luminous VistaVision photography of the Riviera itself. Bubbling with humour\, spice\, and sparkling dialogue\, To Catch a Thief delivers romantic suspense in the classic Hitchcock mould — all the while (and deliberately) never ruffling Grace Kelly’s exquisite Edith Head costumes or disturbing Cary Grant’s debonair disposition. \n\n\n\nCharm and chemistry flow through every frame of this the most picturesque of all Hitchcock’s classics\, a film that exemplifies VistaVision’s power as a vehicle for cinematic visual artistry by a master director but also as a conduit for pure\, easy-going glamourous entertainment on the big screen. \n\n\n\n\nDOORS: 6.30pm*\n\n\n\nSTART TIME: 7pm*\n\n\n\nRUN TIME: 106 mins\n\n\n\nCERT: PG (Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult)\n\n\n\n\n*Please note – doors open at 6.30pm\, Please try to allow extra time to get seated prior to the performance start time of 7.00pm. There will usually be no admittance from 20 minutes after the films stated start time. No hot food or alcohol from outside the premises is allowed. SUMMARY:White Wall Cinema: ONE EYED JACKS
DESCRIPTION:MARLON BRANDO’S 4K REMASTER\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nYou can buy tickets for this screening only or take advantage of our discount ticket for both nights of the Vista Vision weekend to see To Catch a Thief also.\n\n\n\nThis past year has seen the return of one of cinema’s most exciting formats\, with The Brutalist\, One Battle After Another\, the upcoming Emma Stone / Yorgos Lanthimos collaboration Bugonia\, the new Tom Cruise / Alejandro G. The answer lies in the magic of the select group of films produced during VistaVision’s original heyday. Over this very special VistaVision Weekend\, we present two of the most significant titles from that extraordinary list. \n\n\n\nOne-Eyed Jacks has a history as dramatic as the film itself. Originally penned by legendary director Sam Peckinpah (The Wild Bunch)\, production was first set to be helmed by Stanley Kubrick\, who departed just days before shooting began. In an extraordinary twist\, Marlon Brando—already hailed as the greatest actor of his generation—stepped in to direct\, creating what would become his only film as a director. \n\n\n\nWhat followed was the actor of actors directing as only a truly great actor could. Brando’s characteristic passion\, perfectionism\, and intensity pour from every frame. Working with master cinematographer Charles Lang (Some Like It Hot\, The Magnificent Seven)\, Brando crafts strikingly composed images and draws out a series of extraordinary performances from his cast—most notably from Pina Pellicer and Katy Jurado (High Noon)\, as well as his long time collaborator and friend Karl Malden\, with whom he had previously worked on A Streetcar Named Desire and On the Waterfront.  \n\n\n\nA meditation on friendship\, betrayal\, and revenge\, this romantic anti-Western stands as a one-of-a-kind work from one of cinema’s greatest and most enigmatic talents. \n\n\n\n\nDOORS: 5.40pm*\n\n\n\nSTART TIME: 6.10pm*\n\n\n\nRUN TIME: 141 mins\n\n\n\nCERT: PG (Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult)\n\n\n\n\n*Please note – doors open at 5.40pm\, Please try to allow extra time to get seated prior to the performance start time of 6.10pm. SUMMARY:White Wall Cinema: MISSISSIPPI MASALA
DESCRIPTION:The mother of New York City’s new mayor\, Zohran Mamdani\, is acclaimed director Mira Nair. Between creating landmark works such as Caméra d’Or–winning and Oscar-nominated Salaam Bombay! and the Golden Lion and Golden Globe–winning Monsoon Wedding\, Nair crafted this wonderfully luminous\, big-hearted\, sweet\, sexy\, and deeply satisfying celebration of love’s power to transcend racial prejudice\, now finally enjoying a well-deserved revival. \n\n\n\nA romantic gem rich filled with humour and piercing insight\, Mississippi Masala explores identity\, displacement\, colourism\, community\, prejudice\, family\, and generational divides. It is a gorgeously irresistible yet honest ode to the melting pot of American society\, as well as a moving portrait of individual emotional reckoning. \n\n\n\nBeautifully shot in warm\, glowing tones with intimate\, naturalistic cinematography\, the film looks spectacular in this new restoration. making this modern classic more effervescent than ever. We can’t wait to welcome you to this special screening of a truly underappreciated treasure of early ’90s cinema. \n\n\n\n\nDOORS: 7.20pm*\n\n\n\nSTART TIME: 7.50pm*\n\n\n\nRUN TIME: 118 mins\n\n\n\nCERT: 15 (Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult).\n\n\n\n\n*Please note – doors open at 7.20pm\, Please try to allow extra time to get seated prior to the performance start time of 7.50pm. SUMMARY:White Wall Cinema: AMERICAN GIGOLO
DESCRIPTION:Living in his minimalist Los Angeles apartment (before minimalism was even a thing) Julian Kaye (Gere) is the embodiment of cultivated taste: impeccably dressed\, fluent in several languages\, and devoted to the finer things in life. A high-class escort Julian finances his lavish lifestyle catering to a roster of wealthy women\, and cultivates a carefully maintained sense of  emotional detachment. But when he begins a relationship with the wife of a powerful senator and is framed for a murder he did not commit\, his meticulously controlled world begins to unravel. \n\n\n\nSlick yet substantive\, director Paul Schrader never allows the high design and neon glow of the 1980s to overshadow the film’s European art-house sensibility or the moral gravity of its subject. Sophisticated and coolly detached yet charged with undercurrents of passion\, American Gigolo is a tautly restrained melodrama and is one of the defining films of its era as well as an enduring icon of 80s style. Beautifully restored in 4K for the first time\, it remains a ravishing work that radiates understated opulence from every frame and demands big screen viewing. \n\n\n\n\nDOORS: 7.10pm*\n\n\n\nSTART TIME: 7.40pm*\n\n\n\nRUN TIME: 117 mins\n\n\n\nCERT: 18\n\n\n\n\n*Please note – doors open at 7.10pm\, Please try to allow extra time to get seated prior to the performance start time of 7.40pm. SUMMARY:White Wall Cinema: The Hitcher (1986)
DESCRIPTION:This rip-roaring vehicular thriller roars proudly in the tradition of motorway-stalking cult classics like Duel and Road Games – but The Hitcher boasts a far more potent secret weapon: the maniacal menace of Blade Runner legend\, Rutger Hauer. \n\n\n\nTasked with transporting a car cross-country\, young motorist Jim Halsey (C. Thomas Howell\, of The Outsiders fame) begins to nod off behind the wheel and makes a decision that proves catastrophically misguided\, he picks up a hitchhiker for company. The stranger (Hauer) calmly claims to be a killer\, and although Jim manages to force him from the vehicle\, any sense of relief is short-lived. What follows is a relentless descent into terror as the hitchhiker’s full psychopathic mania is unleashed. With the help of truck-stop waitress Nash (Jennifer Jason Leigh\, later of The Hateful Eight and Single White Female)\, Jim is thrust into a desperate fight for survival \n\n\n\nDespite unleashing one brutal set piece after another\, The Hitcher remains lean\, mean\, and stripped to the bone. It plays like a sun-scorched fever dream\, ruthless\, existential\, and soaked in dread. Marrying eerie\, uncanny atmosphere with unapologetic B-movie thrills\, it stands as a rare genre piece that is both artfully minimal\, pulse-poundingly savage with a lingering stylistic mood that’s hard to shake. The Hitcher is a perfectly calibrated\, tension-soaked Friday night big screen treat. \n\n\n\n\nDOORS: 7.30pm*\n\n\n\nSTART TIME: 8pm*\n\n\n\nRUN TIME: 97 mins\n\n\n\nCERT: 15 (Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult)\n\n\n\n\n*Please note – doors open at 7.30pm\, Please try to allow extra time to get seated prior to the performance start time of 8.00pm. SUMMARY:White Wall Cinema: Ghost World
DESCRIPTION:The beloved adaptation of Daniel Clowes’ underground comic Ghost World is our White Wall Cinema Good Friday special. Directed by Terry Zwigoff (Crumb)\, the film perfectly captures the acerbic wit\, deadpan humour\, and teenage angst of its two lead characters\, effortlessly portrayed by Thora Birch (American Beauty) and Scarlett Johansson (Lost in Translation\, Under the Skin). They’re joined by screen legend Steve Buscemi (Reservoir Dogs\, The Big Lebowski)\, delivering one of his most memorable performances. \n\n\n\nWhen misfit friends Enid (Birch) and Rebecca (Johansson) graduate from high school\, they find themselves adrift in the malaise of a long\, post-graduation summer. Beyond enrolling in an art class\, adulthood feels frustratingly out of reach\, but at least they still have each other. Their fragile bond begins to fray when the cynical duo prank a lonely\, middle-aged record collector (Buscemi). What starts as a joke gradually becomes something more complicated\, as one of them forms an unexpected attachment that drives a wedge between the pair. \n\n\n\nWryly observed and darkly hilarious\, Ghost World is a film for anyone who has ever felt out of place\, who never quite fit in or earned a seat at the popular table. Widely regarded as one of the finest coming-of-age films of the 2000s\, it has maintained a devoted cult following for more than two decades. \n\n\n\n\nDOORS: 6.50pm*\n\n\n\nSTART TIME: 7.20pm*\n\n\n\nRUN TIME: 112 mins\n\n\n\nCERT: 15 (Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult)\n\n\n\n\n*Please note – doors open at 6.50pm\, Please try to allow extra time to get seated prior to the performance start time of 7.20pm. SUMMARY:White Wall Cinema:  A Double Bill Of Interdimensional Weirdness
DESCRIPTION:THE ADVENTURES OF BUCKAROOBANZAI & BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTwo cult classics\, one night\, zero sense of normalcy. If you love action\, humour\, and just a dash of absurdity\, this Bank Holiday double bill is your destiny. Originally\, Big Trouble in Little China was partly conceived as a sequel to The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension\, making this the perfect pairing. \n\n\n\nFirst up: the greatest movie about a neurosurgeon\, physicist\, test pilot\, rock star\, comic book hero\, and samurai you’ll ever see. The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai follows the titular hero\, played by Peter Weller (yes\, RoboCop himself)\, on his quest to save the world from evil aliens. \n\n\n\nSome of the most gloriously nonsensical fun ever committed to celluloid\, it has also become a hugely influential cult classic. Wes Anderson even copied the film’s ending almost verbatim for the closing moments of The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou\, while the pop-culture buffet that is Ready Player One features numerous references to Buckaroo Banzai—so much so that Steven Spielberg’s film sees the main character dressing like Buckaroo himself. \n\n\n\nFollowing that\, a film that was once proposed as Buckaroo’s sequel before being reshaped into another gloriously offbeat classic from John Carpenter: Big Trouble in Little China. Director of Halloween\, The Thing\, The Fog\, Starman\, Escape from New York\, and They Live\, Carpenter is no stranger to pulpy\, genre-bending cult hits — but Big Trouble might just be the quirkiest of them all. \n\n\n\nWhen truck driver Jack Burton (Kurt Russell – The Thing\, Death Proof) makes a routine delivery in San Francisco’s Chinatown\, he suddenly finds himself caught in the middle of a supernatural conflict between two ancient Chinese warrior societies. Before long he’s dragged into a wild rescue mission with his friend Wang Chi (Dennis Dun) and sharp-tongued\, fearless lawyer Gracie Law (Kim Cattrall – Sex and the City) to save Wang’s fiancée from the clutches of the 2\,000-year-old sorcerer David Lo Pan (James Hong – Everything Everywhere All at Once). \n\n\n\nSave the world twice in one night – £13 Double Bill Price (or £.9.50  individually)7:00pm – Buckaroo Banzai9:00pm – Big Trouble in Little China. \n\n\n\n\nDOORS: 6.30pm*\n\n\n\nSTART TIME: 7pm*\n\n\n\nRUN TIME: 201 mins + 10 minute intermission.\n\n\n\nCERT: 15 (Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult)\n\n\n\n\n*Please note – doors open at 6.30pm\, Please try to allow extra time to get seated prior to the performance start time of 7.00pm. SUMMARY:White Wall Cinema: All We Imagine As Light
DESCRIPTION:Topping numerous Film of the Year polls (BFI’s Sight & Sound\, The New York Times\, Film Comment\, AP)\, All We Imagine as Light is a luminous\, intricately woven portrait of the intersecting lives of three nurses living in Mumbai. Written and directed by Payal Kapadia in her fiction feature debut\, the film was selected for the Official Competition at the Cannes Film Festival\, where it was awarded the Grand Prix. \n\n\n\nAs much a tribute to Mumbai as it is a quiet critique\, the film follows three very different women who have left their homes in search of opportunity in the big city. Each contends with her own emotional and material struggles\, striving to build stability\, both financial and personal\, while questioning their relationships and navigating the pressures of a rapidly changing urban landscape shaped by gentrification and rising Hindu nationalism. \n\n\n\nA series of everyday yet nonetheless life-altering events unfold\, prompting each woman to gently shed the societal expectations placed upon them\, by others and by themselves. Lyrically told\, visually rich\, and suffused with atmosphere\, longing\, and gentle humour\, this is a deeply rewarding and delicately crafted work. Both beautifully nuanced and disarmingly simple\, it stands as a modern masterpiece. \n\n\n\n\nDOORS: 7.20pm*\n\n\n\nSTART TIME: 7.50pm*\n\n\n\nRUN TIME: 115 mins\n\n\n\nCERT: 15 (Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult).\n\n\n\n\n*Please note – doors open at 7.20pm\, Please try to allow extra time to get seated prior to the performance start time of 7.50pm. SUMMARY:White Wall Cinema: Cutter's Way
DESCRIPTION:Hailed by Time Out as “nothing less than a modern masterpiece\,” Cutter’s Way serves as the closing salvo in a lineage of taut\, politically charged thrillers such as All the President’s Men\, The Parallax View\, Three Days of the Condor\, and The Conversation. Empire magazine called it “a classy monument to the paranoia of post-Watergate America.” The film also fits neatly into the tradition of L.A. Neo-Noir cinema such as The Long Goodbye\, Chinatown\, Thief\, Body Heat\, Blue Velvet\, To Live & Die in L.A.\, L.A. Confidential\, Heat and even The Big Lebowski and Mulholland Drive. \n\n\n\nThe film features an exceptional performance by Jeff Bridges (Lebowski\, True Grit) as Richard Bone\, a laid-back gigolo who becomes entangled in a murder investigation after witnessing the body of a dead cheerleader dumped in a quiet Santa Monica neighbourhood. When his friends\, Cutter (Heard)\, a disabled Vietnam veteran\, and his intelligent\, grounded wife Maureen (Lisa Eichhorn – Yanks\, The Talented Mr. Ripley)\, learn about the murder\, Cutter channels all his obsessive\, unpredictable\, and paranoid energy into confronting the suspected culprit: a powerful local oil tycoon\, dragging the trio into an ever spiralling series of events. Portraying cynicism\, vulnerability\, and simmering anger all at once\, Heard is positively electrifying in the role\, and the entire film radiates with a unique neo-noir energy\, that makes it both the definitive final statement on the post-Watergate era and a primal scream against the erosion of the American dream. \n\n\n\nFinally restored in 4K\, Cutter’s Way is an engrossing\, unusual\, thrilling\, and intelligent murder mystery with sharp political undertones\, a landmark of American cinema that too few have experienced in all its glory. \n\n\n\n\nDOORS: 7.20pm*\n\n\n\nSTART TIME: 7.50pm*\n\n\n\nRUN TIME: 109 mins\n\n\n\nCERT: 15 (Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult).\n\n\n\n\n*Please note – doors open at 7.20pm\, Please try to allow extra time to get seated prior to the performance start time of 7.50pm. SUMMARY:White Wall Cinema: But I'm A Cheerleader
DESCRIPTION:The queen of TV comedy directing\, Jamie Babbit\, has helmed multiple episodes of Gilmore Girls\, Malcolm in the Middle\, Ugly Betty\, The L Word\, Gossip Girl\, The Middle\, Girls\, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia\, Russian Doll\, and Only Murders in the Building. But it’s her legendary debut feature\, But I’m a Cheerleader\, a riotous lampoon of the lunacy of conversion therapy\, that remains her most beloved work. \n\n\n\nThe film follows Megan (Lyonne)\, who\, despite seeming like an all-American girl (jock boyfriend\, good grades\, and yes\, a cheerleader) finds her parents staging an intervention\, fearful she might be *shock horror* a lesbian. With the help of “ex-gay” Mike (RuPaul)\, she is carted off to the True Directions conversion therapy camp in the hope she can learn to be straight. But when she meets rebellious\, unashamed teen lesbian Graham (Clea DuVall)\, the camp’s mission quickly begins to unravel. \n\n\n\nA high-camp comedy filled with brightly coloured sets and boundless energy\, But I’m a Cheerleader is a tongue-firmly-in-cheek dissection of some of society’s less progressive attitudes toward sexuality and gender roles\, and one big\, glittery kick in the teeth to heteronormativity. Satisfyingly broad in its comedy\, this light-hearted satire has a surprisingly heartfelt emotional core\, with a charming cast gleefully embracing its low-budget indie spirit. It’s a vibe that has only grown in stature over time\, cementing the film as one of the key works that helped redefine lesbian cinema. \n\n\n\n\nDOORS: 7.30pm*\n\n\n\nSTART TIME: 8.00pm*\n\n\n\nRUN TIME: 92 mins\n\n\n\nCERT: 15 (Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult).\n\n\n\n\n*Please note – doors open at 7.30pm\, Please try to allow extra time to get seated prior to the performance start time of 8.00pm. SUMMARY:White Wall Cinema: The Man Who Wasn't There
DESCRIPTION:Anchored by a superb ensemble including Billy Bob Thornton (Sling Blade)\, Frances McDormand (Fargo\, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing\, Missouri\, Nomadland)\, Scarlett Johansson (Lost in Translation\, Under the Skin)\, and James Gandolfini (The Sopranos)\, the film follows Ed Crane (Thornton)\, a taciturn\, almost nihilistic barber drifting through life in a small California town. His quiet routine is disrupted when a stranger offers him a dubious business opportunity requiring a significant investment. Suspecting his wife Doris (McDormand) of infidelity\, Ed seizes what he sees as a chance to blackmail her lover and secure the money. What follows is a slow\, inexorable spiral into a world of cruelty\, crime\, and existential uncertainty\, where each decision carries unforeseen and often devastating consequences. \n\n\n\nThe film feels like the perfect synthesis of the Coens’ longstanding preoccupations\, blending their signature jet-black humour with a hauntingly enigmatic crime narrative. Shot in luminous black and white by Roger Deakins (whose collaborations with the Coens and work on the likes of Blade Runner 2049 and 1917 rank among the most visually striking in modern cinema) it stands as a masterclass in neo-noir aesthetics. Complementing the imagery is Carter Burwell’s astonishing score\, arguably one of the finest film composers working today\, scoring all the Coens big hitters as well the likes of Being John Malkovich\, and the Twilight saga) this could easily be one of the best of his career\, lending the film a melancholic\, almost otherworldly tone. \n\n\n\n\nDOORS: 7.20pm*\n\n\n\nSTART TIME: 7.50pm*\n\n\n\nRUN TIME: 116 mins\n\n\n\nCERT: 15 (Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult).\n\n\n\n\n*Please note – doors open at 7.20pm\, Please try to allow extra time to get seated prior to the performance start time of 7.50pm. SUMMARY:White Wall Cinema: Heartbreakers (1984)
DESCRIPTION:*** PLEASE NOTE DOORS OPEN AT 7.30PM SO YOU CAN ENJOY OUR BEER GARDEN PRIOR TO THE SCREENING*** \n\n\n\n\n\n\nIt Is Still 1985 Brighton’s legendary 80s party (every Saturday at Green Door Store) turns 18 this year. To celebrate the night ‘coming of age’ White Wall Cinema are collaborating with 1985 for a season of films called ‘Sex in the 80s’ which continues this May with forgotten 80s classic ‘Heartbreakers’.  \n\n\n\nVery obviously the key influence on Challengers (Luca Guadagnino’s 2024 ménage à trois tennis drama starring Zendaya\, Mike Faist\, and Josh O’Connor)\, this overlooked\, underseen\, tender and sexy buddy movie about two highly competitive male friends (on the racquetball court and off)\, both chronically unsuccessful in love\, is a true forgotten gem. Intelligent framing and lush\, sensual ’80s atmospherics blend with a raw\, confessional style to create something of a mini-masterpiece. \n\n\n\nBased on the personal experiences of director Bobby Roth\, Heartbreakers approaches its subject in the style of a European relationship drama while retaining all the textures of mid-’80s Los Angeles. It’s richly photographed by Michael Ballhaus\, a longtime collaborator of Rainer Werner Fassbinder and Martin Scorsese\, and scored by pioneering electronic group Tangerine Dream (Sorcerer; Thief; Risky Business). \n\n\n\n\nDOORS: 7.30pm*\n\n\n\nSTART TIME: 8.20pm*\n\n\n\nRUN TIME: 98 mins\n\n\n\nCERT: 18\n\n\n\n\n*Please note – doors open at 7.30pm\, Please try to allow extra time to get seated prior to the performance start time of 8.20pm. SUMMARY:White Wall Cinema: Tender Mercies - Robert Duvall Tribute
DESCRIPTION:*** PLEASE NOTE DOORS OPEN AT 7.40PM SO YOU CAN ENJOY OUR BEER GARDEN PRIOR TO THE SCREENING*** \n\n\n\n\n\n\nDirected by multi–Academy Award\, Palme d’Or\, and Golden Globe–nominated filmmaker Bruce Beresford\, and based on an original screenplay by Pulitzer Prize–winning writer Horton Foote\, (who won Oscars both for this script and for his 1962 classic screen adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird) this understated and deeply affecting film stands as an elegantly simple triumph. It also marks the only time Robert Duvall won an Academy Award\, taking home Best Actor at the 56th Oscars for this role. \n\n\n\nThe story is so compelling that it was\, in essence\, revisited in reverse with Crazy Heart\, starring Jeff Bridges (who won an Oscar for his role\, Duvall himself also appeared in the film). Where the 2009 film charts a descent into alcoholism\, this earlier 1983 made tale offers a path toward redemption. Mac Sledge\, a once-prominent country singer with a troubled past\, awakens after a night of heavy drinking on the floor of a roadside motel and resolves to change his life. What unfolds is a gentle\, reflective portrait of a man attempting to rebuild himself\, forming a bond with a young widow and her son\, reconnecting with his estranged daughter\, and confronting the lingering echoes of his former fame. \n\n\n\nDuvall’s deft\, deeply felt performance transforms what could have been an overly sentimental narrative into a nuanced character study with lasting emotional resonance. The film’s authentic richly drawn characters\, and natural chemistry of the cast\, combined with a subtle touch of romance and a quietly inspirational\, bittersweet tone\, elevate this elegantly simple work. Powered by a superb\, Oscar-winning screenplay\, it remains a impressive testament to the strength of restrained storytelling and one of the finest achievements of Duvall’s remarkable career. \n\n\n\n\nDOORS: 7.40pm*\n\n\n\nSTART TIME: 8.30pm*\n\n\n\nRUN TIME: 92 mins\n\n\n\nCERT: PG (Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult).\n\n\n\n\n*Please note – doors open at 7.40pm\, Please try to allow extra time to get seated prior to the performance start time of 8.30pm. SUMMARY:White Wall Cinema: Lurker - New Release Special
DESCRIPTION:*** PLEASE NOTE DOORS OPEN AT 7.40PM SO YOU CAN ENJOY OUR BEER GARDEN PRIOR TO THE SCREENING*** \n\n\n\n\n\n\nPremiering at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival Lurker was named as one of Variety’s Top 10 Films of the Year\, where well-known critic Owen Gleiberman wrote: “Lurker has been made with the craft of early vintage Polanski crossed with an up-to-the-minute awareness of what pop culture has come to mean when the famous and their fans are now chasing each other’s tails.” Critically acclaimed across the board racking up a 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes\, the site’s critic’s consensus reads\, “Devilishly examining the intersection of fame and obsession to thrilling effect\, Alex Russell’s directorial debut delivers on all fronts.” \n\n\n\nThe story begins when Oliver (Archie Madekwe – Midsommar\, Saltburn)\, a pop musician on the verge of stardom\, visits a popular Los Angeles clothing store and bonds over shared musical taste with retail worker Matthew (Théodore Pellerin – On Becoming a God in Central Florida\, Beau Is Afraid). Invited to a live show\, Matthew seizes the opportunity to enter Oliver’s inner circle. But as Oliver’s fame accelerates and his entourage expands\, featuring Havana Rose Liu (Bottoms)\, Zack Fox (Abbott Elementary)\, Daniel Zolghadri (Y2K)\, and Sunny Suljic (mid90s)\, Matthew must prove himself as more than just another admirer. As relationships strain and tensions mount\, Matthew’s fixation deepens in parallel with Oliver’s rising profile\, and proximity becomes a matter of life and death. \n\n\n\nWith its propulsive plotting\, taut suspense\, and incisive take on contemporary culture\, Lurker unfolds as a cat-and-mouse thriller of escalating unease. A fresh\, distinctly modern para-social story\, it is also a fascinatingly universal tale that makes up the latest entry in  continuum of movies including All About Eve\, The King of Comedy\, Misery\, Single White Female\, The Fan\, and The Talented Mr. Ripley. \n\n\n\n\nDOORS: 7.40pm*\n\n\n\nSTART TIME: 8.30pm*\n\n\n\nRUN TIME: 101 mins\n\n\n\nCERT: 15 (Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult)\n\n\n\n\n*Please note – doors open at 7.40pm\, Please try to allow extra time to get seated prior to the performance start time of 8.30pm.
