DESCRIPTION:Next up in our ‘Black Cinema Goes Boom’ programming strand (which focuses on the explosion of early ‘90s popular black cinema) it’s the bombastic New Jack City. This highly stylised neo-noir crime thriller classic is directed by Mario Van Peebles (son of pioneer director Melvin Van Peebles) and is an era-defining piece of black cinema. An on fire Wesley Snipes heads up an all star cast that including Ice-T\, Chris Rock\, Judd Nelson\, and Bill Cobbs\, who all do outstanding work bringing to life a cast of characters being chewed up and spit out by the Harlem crack epidemic.
